Dr. Jose Jacob began his medical training at St. John’s National Academy of Medical Sciences in Bangalore, India. He earned his MBBS in 1983 and his MD in General Internal Medicine in 1991. Early in his career, he worked in internal medicine in Ireland and trained in cardiology and internal medicine in England. Dr. Jacob later completed internal medicine residency at Coney Island Hospital in Brooklyn. He completed a cardiology fellowship through New York-Presbyterian Hospital, Weill Cornell Medical College, and Coney Island Hospital from 1999 to 2002. During fellowship, he served as Chief Cardiology Fellow. His training helped shape the careful, practical approach he brings to complex cardiovascular decisions.
He also earned a Master of Science degree from the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. His thesis examined thrombolysis in acute myocardial infarction, a subject that reflects his long-standing interest in urgent cardiac care. He remains certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine and Adult Cardiovascular Disease. He also participates in ongoing Maintenance of Certification.
Since beginning his U.S. cardiology career in 2002, Dr. Jacob has served patients in cardiovascular centers across North Carolina and Florida. He has practiced in Fayetteville, Greenville, Elizabeth City, Williamston, Leesburg, and Ocala. Since 2022, he has practiced with the Cardiovascular Institute of Central Florida in Ocala and has held cardiology privileges at several regional hospitals.
His clinical work includes cardiology consultations, radial cardiac catheterization, pacemaker and implantable cardioverter-defibrillator implantation, transesophageal echocardiography, and nuclear cardiology procedures. He has also served as a department chair, chief of staff, and medical executive committee member. These leadership roles strengthened his focus on quality, safety, and professional standards.
